April showers bring May flowers, and May flowers are a beautiful sign that summer is around the corner. With summer quickly approaching, it’s also the time that all the Naperville children will be concluding their school year, ready to enjoy the adventures that await them.
“The Best Summer Ever” is the theme of YMCA Summer Camps. Summer camp can be a powerful dynamic experience for children of all ages.
I have always believed in the wonderful experiences that exist for children at Summer Camp. Yet it was not until I sent my daughter off to Summer Camp for the first time that I truly realized the lasting benefits of camp.
My daughter was seven years old when she first attended Summer Day Camp. That same summer she also attended Overnight Camp for three nights. I say this was the beginning of a life changing experience for her. She began to develop greater self confidence, a sense of adventure, the ability to make new friends, and a love of the outdoors.
For years, she returned for weeks of Day Camp. Year after year, she also returned to Overnight Camp, extending her stay from three nights progressively to three weeks. Each summer I saw a young lady who was touched by the magic of camp. She was free to be who she was and was appreciated for her talents.
Now 11 years later, my daughter still has a passion for Summer Camp. She has earned a position as a counselor at Overnight Camp. More importantly, she has become a compassionate well-rounded young lady who understands what it means to nurture the potential in others, appreciate diversity, and have a genuine desire to make a difference.
YMCA Camp provides a unique adventure that fills each child’s summer with fun and memories that last a lifetime. Camp is for all ages and we are looking forward to the “Best Summer Ever.”
