Battle of the Bands – 4PM | Free

The community is invited to listen to some of the top high school rock bands as they compete in the Naperville Park District Youth Ambassadors’ 13th annual Battle of the Bands from 4 to 8PM on Friday, May 6 at the Community Concert Center in Central Park, 104 E. The Addams Family – 7PM | $12

They’re creepy and they’re kooky; mysterious and spooky. They’re altogether ooky, The Addams Family! The musical sensation that follows the bizarre and beloved Addams Family will take center stage at Metea Valley High School (MVHS) concluding the 2015-16 theater season. Performances will take place May 5, 6 and 7 at 7PM in the MVHS Auditorium (1801 North Eola Road, Aurora). Naperville Boy Scout Troop 501 Hosts Annual Pancake Breakfast – 7AM | $5-$15. Individual – $5, Family – $15, FREE to active scouts in uniform and all blood donors.
St. Timothy Lutheran Church – 1313 Mill St. Naperville, IL 60540
Scout Troop 501 will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 7 at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 1313 North Mill St., Naperville. Breakfast begins at 7AM and will be served until noon. Breakfast includes: pancakes, sausage, orange juice, and other beverages. Tickets are $5 per individual and $15 per family. Active scouts in uniform eat free. In conjunction with the pancake breakfast, St. Timothy and Heartland Blood Centers will hold a blood drive. Breakfast is free to ALL BLOOD DONORS. Naperville Community Gardeners Annual Plant Sale – 7AM | Free
Naperville Garden Plots – West St. and Martin Ave, South of Naperville Central HS Naperville, IL 60540
Featured plants include locally grown high quality Proven Winners, a wide variety of unique ‘specialty’ and bedding plants, vegetables, herbs, grasses and hanging baskets. Hundreds of member garden perennial plants are available, including collectible and hard to find varieties. Home grown heirloom vegetables are also available. Honor Flight Chicago Fundraiser – 11AM-3PM | $20 – 40
DuPage County Airport – 2700 International Dr #200, West Chicago, IL 60185
The DuPage Veterans Foundation will host the 5th Annual Honor Flight Chicago fundraiser, being held again inside the spacious Calamos Hangar out at the DuPage County Airport in West Chicago. (Suggestion: Arrive before 1PM.) The luncheon event features special guests, live music performed by the Naperville Municipal Big Band, singing by the Legacy Girls, dancing with veterans, patriotic military displays and silent auction items. All proceeds from this annual event will benefit Honor Flight Chicago. Admission tickets to the fundraiser are $30 per adult in advance ($40 at the door) and $20 per child.

Naperville Jaycees Lobster Day – 11AM-5PM | Prices Vary
For many years, the day before Mother’s Day has been set aside to sell live lobsters, one of many fundraisers organized by the Naperville Jaycees. Remember to pick up pre-orders of fresh North Atlantic lobster and Casey’s Foods‘ filet mignon. Lobsters and filets will be available during scheduled pick up times between 11AM and 5PM on Sat., May 7, at Centennial Beach, located at 500 W. Kentucky Derby Gala – 3PM | $150

hats-25The Kentucky Derby Gala to benefit Hesed House is slated to run at the new Embassy Suites in Naperville. Presented this year by Gerald KIA and Meson Sabika, the Kentucky Derby Gala is open to the public with advance reservations. Tickets are $150 per person/open seating and $1,500/reserved table of 10. In addition to raffles, silent auction, live auction, one of many creative activities during the event is the popular Derby Diva Hat Contest, a time when men and women can show off the stuff on top of their head for fun, prizes and bragging rights. For reservations, call Carolyn Fairbanks at (630) 897-2156 x 514 or cfairbanks@hesedhouse.org.
