Naperville’s Sister Cities Commission is hosting a Gallery Exhibition to commemorate the young artists of Naperville who entered submissions into the 2016 Sister Cities Young Artists Showcase. The showcase will take place on Friday, April 15 from 7 to 9PM at the Naperville Art League – Fine Art Center and Gallery, 508 N. Center St.
All submitted artwork will be displayed at exhibition where Mayor Emeritus A. George Pradel will present awards to one finalist and one semi-finalist. The finalist will have his or her artwork submitted to Sister Cities International in Washington, D.C. for national, and potentially international, recognition. Attendees can enjoy artwork submissions, refreshments and music courtesy of the Chicago Sinfonietta’s Project Inclusion Ensemble, which is sponsored by a Special Events and Cultural Amenities (SECA) grant.
This year’s theme, “Peace through People,” commemorates the 60th anniversary of Sister Cities International by celebrating its mission to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation – one individual, one community at a time. Entrants were asked to use their artwork to express how people-to-people exchanges and citizen diplomacy build peace in their communities.
