I felt like I was in a movie.
Surrounded by hands waiving frantically, the auctioneer’s rhythmic chant filled my ears.
“Let’s go. I’m at 38, 38, do I get 39? 38, do I get 39? I’m at 39, do I get 40? 40, 40, do I hear 41, $40, going once, going twice, sold for $40,000…”
Forty-thousand dollars, really?
Yes, this fine art auction featured original paintings, serigraphs, etchings, and more—by world-renowned artists including Picasso, Miro, and Dali. Although I hate to admit this publically, 40 grand is a little too rich for my blood, but that does not prevent me from collecting quality artwork.
If you would like to find quality art pieces, get a good deal and have some fun while doing so, think about this: from 6:30 to 9PM on Friday, April 22, Naperville Art League is hosting its Art Silent Auction Fundraiser Auction at their Fine Art Center and Gallery, 508 North Center Street, Naperville.
Riverwalk Fine Art Fair artists and artist members of the league have stepped up in support of this event by donating a colorful array of unique pieces in oil, collage, pastel, watercolor, as well as ceramic, jewelry and fiber.
Featured pieces include a solid metal sculpture by Rick Martin and an oil pastel print by Maureen McKee. Entertainment, raffles, appetizers and libation will abound as attendees focus on their favorite auction items. With bids opening as low as $10, accessible fine art is yours for the asking.
All proceeds from this event will support the NAL’s classroom renovation incentive designed to ensure the viability of the education program for adults and children that the league offers to the community.
