“My goal is good food that makes people happy. Work twice as hard as anybody else, own the block, own the world.”
–Terrell Cole, Dark Horse Pastries
Terrell Cole has owned the hearts and appetites of his many fans ever since he set up Dark Horse Pastries two years ago, after several years as Chef at Sullivan’s Steakhouse in Downtown Naperville. Now he’s taken the next step, opening a storefront bakery on Chicago Avenue.
“Downtown Naperville needs a bakery,” he says. “A place where people can feel at home, stop in every morning for a sticky bun or a croissant, pick up lunch or dinner to go, or order their favorite cookies and pastries. We want to bring nostalgia and great quality.”
Dark Horse Pastries offers classics and unique flavors. You’ll find chocolate chip cookies, red velvet cupcakes and Napoleon slices, but also maple bacon donuts, bread pudding and Black Forest cheesecake.
Terrell also offers catering for private parties and charities, and credits his local relationships for his success so far, including Naperville Bank & Trust.
“They are friendly people who promote my business,” adds Cole. “I always have questions, and they have answers, and who else has free ATMs?”
With Cole’s talent and determination, Dark Horse Pastries’ new venture seems to be in the running for sweet success in Downtown Naperville.
