Singing and ringing Valentine’s Day

-

Quartets from the Chorus of DuPage, a men’s barbershop chorus, will once again be filling offices, homes, colleges, hospitals, businesses, and restaurants with the sound of four-part harmony as they deliver their brand of “Singing Valentines” on the weekend of Feb. 12-14.

A Singing Valentine includes two songs delivered in person in the Chicago Metropolitan area.

“If your loved one or friend lives too far away for an in-person delivery, but can be reached by phone, deliver a ‘ringing’ Valentine by telephone,” suggests Jerry Broz, media contact for the men’s chorus.

What could be more romantic or memorable than to be serenaded by a quartet singing a love song on Valentine’s Day?

A standard Singing Valentine costs $50 (extra for a specific window of time) which includes two songs sung in four-part barbershop harmony, a single rose and a card with your personal message.

Or consider that a Ringing Valentine, delivered by telephone, costs $25 and includes two songs.

Either in person or by telephone, it is a memory of a lifetime! Make this Valentine’s Day unique.

What’s more, Singing Valentine’s and/or Ringing Valentines make great last-minute gifts as long as orders are received on time and a slot is available.

Reservation orders are now available via the Chorus of DuPage online at www.chorusofdupage.com/valentines.

Brief history

Over the years, the quartets have delivered many “Singing Valentines” to both men and woman, prompting hundreds of smiles and tears of excitement.

Their songs from the heart have resonated from offices, restaurants, schools and homes throughout the area, providing romantic and memorable appearances every time.

On the weekend of Feb. 12, Feb. 13 and Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14, members of the Chorus of DuPage are available to deliver their serenades throughout business and residential neighborhoods. The Chorus of DuPage will have several quartets out and around the western suburbs delivering songs that say “I love you,” organizers said.

New members welcome

The Chorus of Du Page meets 7:15 to 9:30PM on Tuesdays at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 815 South Washington Street, just south of Edward Hospital.

The all-male chorus seeks members who value the joy of singing. Experienced singers and beginner singers, young ones and old ones are welcome.

Experience the joy of four-part harmony in barbershop style and learn more about how involvement in this wonderful hobby can bring not only hours of personal satisfaction, but also listening pleasure to hundreds of audience members.

The Chorus of Du Page is one of approximately 800 Barbershop Harmony Society men’s choruses throughout North America that meet regularly to practice, socialize, perform and sing a cappella harmony in barbershop style. Their repertoire includes special arrangements of today’s ballads and upbeat songs, popular show tunes, inspirational hymns, patriotic songs and, of course, old-time barbershop favorites. Singing the satisfying sounds of barbershop harmony provides a rich, rewarding experience.
