Through March 17, Art exhibit: North Central College presents the artwork of Madai Taylor in a free exhibit through March 17 in the College’s Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St. Taylor’s paintings demonstrate the challenging use of spontaneity and address themes of disintegration and reproduction using organic materials and natural forms. Feb. 11-13, Theatre: North Central College presents “The Cherub’s Mask,” an original, student-directed play by junior Jack Morsovillo. The play examines the psychological and emotional effects of divorce on a family. Three performances will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11-13 in North Central’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Feb. 14, International Festival: North Central College hosts its 20th annual International Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, in the College’s Gregory Arena at Merner Field House, 450 S. Brainard St. All are invited to explore the diverse cultures from around the world and in our communities. Tickets are $6 at the door or $5 in advance. All proceeds benefit the International Scholarship fund to support international students coming to North Central College and North Central students who study abroad. Feb. 14, Music: North Central College presents “Ella Loves Gershwin” performed by jazz vocalist Tammy McCann. Feb. 15, Visit Day: High school students and their parents or guardians are invited to attend North Central College’s Visit Day on Monday, Feb. 15, in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Visitors can choose to attend a morning session with check-in at 9:30 a.m. or a later one at 11:45 a.m. Both sessions offer opportunities to take a walking tour and attend informative sessions on financial aid, academic highlights and student life, with optional tours of athletic and fine arts facilities. Feb. 18, Lecture: North Central College hosts a free lecture titled “Women as Powerful Consumers in Middle East and North Africa” by Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Maha Mourad from the American University in Cairo. Feb. 20-21, Feed the Need: North Central College will host Feed the Need! Illinois, a coalition of Naperville area churches, congregations and civic organizations that are working together to sponsor the   fifth annual two-day Feed My Starving Children MobilePack. With a goal of 5,000 volunteers packing 1 million meals, volunteers can sign up for two-hour shifts between 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, and between noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, in North Central’s Residence Hall/Recreation Center, 440 S. Feb. 24, Lecture: North Central College presents a free lecture titled “American Suburban” by Naperville native Bobby Fieseler at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, in the College’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Feb. 25, Transfer information session: North Central College will host an information session Thursday, Feb. 25, for transfer students. Feb. 25-28, Theatre: North Central College seniors present “Little Shop of Horrors” by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, an iconic musical about an unfortunate florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood and flesh. Four performances will be staged at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25-27 and at 2 p.m. Feb. 28 in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Chicago Ave. The orchestra will perform the complete work, featuring The Lakeside Singers and soloists Robert Sims and Tammy McCann.
