Silent Samaritans Breakfast is set for Feb. 10 at Hotel Arista

-

Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center will host its 9th Annual Silent Samaritans Breakfast, Planting Seeds of Hope,” from 7:30AM to 9AM on Wed., Feb. 10, at Hotel Arista in CityGate Centre.

Since 2007, the Silent Samaritans Program has grown, based on a humble, yet very powerful idea – women helping other women in need.

Under the leadership of Sandy Benson, the Silent Samaritans Program is dedicated to raising funds to support women in need and to insure that every woman who comes to Samaritan Interfaith seeking counseling receives help, regardless of her ability to pay.

The program assists women in difficult financial circumstances due to divorce, job loss, or abandonment.  They are mothers parenting alone, widows isolated in their bereavement, married women in failing relationships, and survivors of domestic violence.  They are women who need help from other women.

Further, women are more likely than men to be victims of physical, sexual and emotional abuse.

Keynote speaker Sally P. Miller

This year’s breakfast features Sally P. Miller.  Writer, teacher, and sought-after speaker, Sally also serves, in Chicago’s Western Suburbs, as a Hospital Chaplain. Her most recent book, Divine Love: Women Who Have It & How You Can Get It is a collection of midrashes based on biblical, historic and contemporary women.

Miller will share her own life story, along with some inspirational stories from her ministerial experiences as a hospital chaplain. This collection of narratives encourages listeners to explore their personal stories in search of deeper connections with their truest selves, with others, and with God.

The Annual Silent Samaritans Breakfast raises funds for women and their children seeking mental health counseling, but lack resources.

Tickets are $30 per person. For last-minute ticket availability, visit www.samaritancenter.org or call (630) 357-2456 x 22.

If unable to attend, but would like to assist women at risk, gifts of any size are welcome to support the Silent Samaritan program. Samaritan Interfaith Counseling Center is located at 1819 Bay Scott Circle, Suite 109 Naperville, IL 60540.
