Edward Cancer Center introduces Oncology Nurse Navigator

Edward Cancer Center has introduced Samantha Montgomery, RN, BSN, CMSRN, as Oncology Nurse Navigator.

In the role, she’ll work with patients at Edward Cancer Center’s locations on the campus of Edward Hospital, 801 S. Washington St. in Naperville and on the Edward Plainfield campus, 24600 W. 127th St.

An Oncology Nurse Navigator helps patients and families coordinate all aspects of cancer care, including:

  • Helping understand the plan of care and treatment
  • Navigating schedules of treatments, tests, labs, procedures and appointments
  • Serving as a resource for treatment questions and concerns
  • Acting as an advocate for the patient and liaison between the patient/family and care team.

Montgomery, who earned her BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) degree from Northern Illinois University, has been a staff nurse in the neuroscience, orthopedic and oncology patient units at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, and a bone marrow transplant and hematology staff nurse at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.
