NIFF Movie Screening featuring 5 Shorts – 6:30PM | FREE
95th Street Library – Naperville, IL 60564
As October is National Bullying Prevention Month, on Friday, October 9th at 6:30pm at the 95th Street Naperville Library, the Naperville Independent Film Festival will screen five student-produced anti-bullying films from KidsMatter, a local nonprofit helping to empower youth. The short films were written and produced by students from School Districts 203 & 204. In addition, three short films from the Naperville Independent Film Festival, relating to bullying, will be shown. Parents and Students are encouraged to attend; there will be handouts for parents and students. This program is presented in partnership with Naperville Independent Film Festival, KidsMatter and the Naperville Public Library.

Today’s grilling will be repeated every Saturday and Sunday with lunchtime favorites until the fall season ends. Picnic tables provide seating under cover.  Casey’s also has a variety of specialty cakes for special occasions in its bakery. Begin at Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster  – Naperville 60540
Learn about 19th century mourning customs and superstitions from Naper Settlement’s Museum Educators. Then take a walk through the Naperville Cemetery for a glimpse back in time. Learn about some of the early settlers of Naperville, see their headstones and explore the different symbols and meanings used in the creation of these unique artifacts and, in some cases, works of art. For ages teen to adult. The walk begins at the Naper Settlement Visitor Center, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville.

In 2011, the UN declared October 11th as the International Day of the Girl to recognize women’s rights and the challenges girls and women faces around the world from extreme violence to the lack of opportunity to receive education. Celebrate how far we’ve come and share your messages of hope, inspiration and strength with women and girls all around the world. You’ll have the ability to write letters to women and girls in our safe houses, to special women in your life or something to brighten a stranger’s day. Together, we can make a difference and lift each other up. All supplies will be provided.
