The Naperville Healing Field of Honor Committee would like to invite the public to a Launch Party for the “Healing Field of Honor: 50 Years of Healing” on Thursday, September 17, 2015.
Above / The Riverwalk Eatery, near the Jaycees Marina at the base of Rotary Hill, will host the Launch Party.
The get-together will be held from 5:30PM to 7PM at the Eatery, located along the Riverwalk next to Rotary Hill, organizers said.
Food and beverages will be available, compliments of the Naperville Park District and Belgio’s Catering.
Individuals will have the opportunity to purchase a flag, dedicate a flag to a veteran and/or become a sponsor.

This year marks the beginning of the US Department of Defense “Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration Program,” a time dedicated to thank, honor and highlight the service of the Armed Forces and families that sacrificed time and lives during that conflict. Eleven servicemen from Naperville lost their lives.
The 2015 Healing Field of Honor will pay tribute to veterans of this era with “50 Years of Healing.” The exhibit will include a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, recreated to include all 144 panels by Blooming Color, Inc., in recognition of the men and women who served and sacrificed their lives in the Vietnam War.
Flags for the Healing Field Memorial may be purchased for $30; plus, you may dedicate your flag with a “Tag of Honor” for $5. Flags can be picked up from the field on the final day of the event or shipped to you for an additional $5.
To purchase a flag or become a sponsor, contact Anna Zimmerman, Fundraiser Chair, at firstname.lastname@example.org, 630.212.5426, or flag order forms are available at the Naperville Park District Administrative Office and online at www.healingfield.org/naperville.
This event is sponsored by Operations Support Our Troops and the Naperville Park District. The proceeds from this memorial will go to the Allen J. Lynch Medal of Honor Veterans Foundation.
Above / Just as gratitude for the sacrifices given by military families, the spectacular view of 2,009 American flags from the observation deck in Moser Tower with its 72-bell carillon will never be forgotten.
The 2015 Healing Field of Honor follows two previous week-long displays on Rotary Hill. The first event featured 2,009 American flags in 2009. The second one displayed 2,012 flags in 2012. The spectacular view of patriotism with American flags waving again will run Nov. 6-12, timed to be presented during the week preceding Veterans Day on Nov. 11.
