Posted April 20, 2015 / Naperville Police with the assistance of the Illinois State Police and the DuPage Metropolitan Enforcement Group, culminated a five month long investigation into an illegal gambling ring in the evening hours of Wednesday August 19.
Investigators served search warrants at 1163 E. Ogden Ave. Suite 505, a business previously operated as a pain clinic, and arrested the following 13 individuals. Police also seized approximately 25 thousand in United States Currency, evidence of gambling, a 2011 Porsche Panamera, a 2014 E63 AMG Mercedes and a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan.
This investigation is continuing and more charges and arrests are imminent.
The following suspects have been charged at this time:
- Hoang, Vu Trong, 36 of Chicago, charged with Gambling and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Class 4 felony
- Nakagawa, Aki, 33 of Chicago, charged with Gambling and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Class 4 felony
- Janowiak, Kevin L, 53 of Mount Prospect, charged with Gambling and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Class 4 felony
- Nguyen, Phillip L, 43 of Naperville, charged with Gambling and Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Class 4 felony
- Mirshak, David A, 37 of Belvidere, charged with Gambling, Class A Misdemeanor
- Tsombanidis, Ioannis T, 59 of Scottsdale, AZ, charged with Gambling, Class A Misdemeanor
- Gutzman, William F, 33 of Bensenville, charged with Gambling, Class A Misdemeanor
- Wandling, Daniel B, 30 of Chicago, charged with Gambling, Class A Misdemeanor
- Costigan, Lawrence P, 50 of Palatine, charged with Gambling, Class A Misdemeanor
- Lemberger, Michael J, 40 of Naperville, charged with Gambling, Class A Misdemeanor
- Lukban, Julian R, 40 of Chicago, charged with Gambling, Class A Misdemeanor
- Yusuf, Asad, 42 of Naperville, charged with a Warrant Arrest for Failure to Appear (Traffic)
- Lawhead, Amber Ray, 33 of Cortland IL, charged with Gambling, (city ordinance)
The Naperville Police wish to remind the public and the news media that a charge is merely an accusation, and a defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
