Town Hall Meeting Will Address City’s Financial Status

-

The Naperville Are Homeowners Confederation will host a town hall meeting beginning at 7PM on Mon., August 17, in the City Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle Street.

During this meeting, Finance Director Rachel Mayer will explain the current financial status of the City and some of the proposals under consideration to increase City revenues to better align with costs and anticipated future requirements. These proposals reflect the following three principles:

  • The City will pass a structurally balanced budget annually
  • The City commits to continuous improvement in the delivery of cost effective services, aligning the cost of service with those receiving the benefit, and providing the high-level of service that has made Naperville a top-ranked community within the U.S. (Updated after Aug. 6, 2015, request/change.)
  • The City will actively seek to reduce its overall debt level by 25 percent in the next four years.

By hosting this meeting, the Confederation’s goal is to provide a level of common understanding of the issues, impacts, and opportunities associated with any of the proposed new revenue streams. Following this overview, the Confederation will open the floor to discussion and comments as the Confederation works to establish an informed position based on the views of our neighbors and members.

We look forward to respectful participation from our neighbors and members as we provide feedback to our municipal leadership.

For those who cannot be part of the event audience, this meeting will be broadcast live on the City of Naperville Public Access Station WCNC (Channel 6 WOW, Channel 10 Comcast, and Channel 99 AT&T).
