Exchange Happenings – Service Club Focuses on Family and Community

-

Ten members of the Exchange Club of Naperville traveled to the National Exchange Club Convention in Columbus, Ohio, slated this year from July 29 to Aug. 2.

The National Exchange Club – a service organization with 700 clubs and more than 20,000 members throughout the United States and Puerto Rico – celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2011. Founded in 1911 in Detroit by business leaders who wanted to “exchange” ideas on making their community better, the Exchange Club moved its headquarters to Toledo, Ohio, in 1917.

Its core values – Family, Community and Country — are held by each Exchange member with pride and commitment.

For more than one hundred years, Exchange Club volunteer efforts have supported the needs of the country and of local communities, making it the country’s oldest American service organization operating exclusively in this country.

The core mission of Exchange is the prevention of child abuse and domestic violence. It is in support of this mission that Ribfest became our largest fundraiser.

On behalf of Exchange Club, I would like to thank all of the many sponsors, volunteers and club members for putting on such a successful event.

The weather was perfect except for being a little chilly on Thursday evening.

Already, planning has begun for Ribfest 2016. Thanks to all!

Please remember you are always welcome to join us for a luncheon meeting on the first and third Fridays at noon at Hugo’s Frog Pond. We welcome your interest in our club as we’re always seeking new members who embrace our mission.
