Tours of the Turning Pointe middle school and high school as well as its career college guided by Ketra Kuniej, Career College Director/HR, provided an enlightening experience for all community members in attendance. The job center where students learn life skills with instruction for real-time employment attracted lots of interest from attendees who were visiting the school for the first time.

The rally provided a fun time to take photos with friends of Turning Pointe Autism Foundation.

The message from President/CEO Walter Johnson, board members and guest speakers was that understanding the complexities of autism needs to be communicated every day.

Johnson noted that working together as a community always has been Naperville’s success.  “We see the need, step up and get it done.”

He also encouraged attendees  to keep supporting the causes they value the most, ones “that grab your heart,” addressing the funding challenges of all nonprofit organizations.

At the end, Johnson added, “Take today and carry it with you to help create awareness and understanding.”

Original Post / Turning Pointe Autism Foundation will host an Autism Awareness Rally and Open House from 8-9AM on Wed., April 29, 2015. This event will take place at Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, 1500 W. Ogden Ave.

The purpose of this event is to help highlight the need for autism awareness beyond the month of April. The goal is to help educate people on what ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) is and to build the support needed for the 1 in 68 children impacted by autism and the families who love and support them all year around.

The April 29 Rally program will include messages from local leaders focused on the importance of understanding Autism and raising awareness of the growing need for services.

“Turning Pointe is proud to be one of the Chicagoland nonprofit organizations dedicated to providing support, services and real-time solutions to those impacted and their loved ones,” said Walter Johnson, President and CEO of Turning Pointe. “Hopefully an event like this rally, at the end of Autism Awareness Month, will help build on April’s positive momentum.”
