Above: The “SRA Art Show” is hosted by WDSRA at the Bloomingdale Park District Museum April 15-26. The exhibit features art by over 100 artists with special needs.

Artwork comes in all colors and textures, all shapes and sizes – just like the people who create it. Art allows us to express our true selves and adds beauty and joy to life. What a drab world it would be without art. At Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA), we know that for some, participation in the arts is an important part of self-fullfilment.

To celebrate the many talented artists that participate in various art programs through several Special Recreation Associations (SRAs) in the region, The 9th Annual SRA Art Show will be held April 15 through April 26 at the Bloomingdale Park District Museum at 108 S. Bloomingdale Road in Bloomingdale. The show will feature 2-D and 3-D artwork in various media by over 100 artists with special needs. This event is free and open to public. Museum hours vary during the exhibit, so please visit www.bloomingdaleparks.org or call (630) 529-3650 before heading out.

As one of my college art professors once said, “The creative process is not complete until someone else views the painting.” With that in mind, how appropriate that there is an artists’ reception scheduled on the last day of the exhibit – and you are invited! Please join us on Sunday, April 26 from 2-4PM to view the colorful artwork, meet the artists, enjoy refreshments, and live musical entertainment – even create your own beautiful craft.

The art show is hosted by WDSRA, but other participating SRAs include Northeast DuPage (NEDSRA), Northwest (NWSRA), Northern Illinois (NISRA), and West Suburban (WSSRA).
