ncc-brick-path-web-DSC_5528Through April 2, Art exhibit: NCC presents an art exhibit by Diana Bilovsky. The exhibit, “PTSD Nation,” uses art to educate the extent to which Post Traumatic Stress Disorder affects an individual. This exhibit is free and open to the public through April 2 in the College’s Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St. Call (630) 637-5543 for gallery hours.

Through April 6, Art exhibit: NCC showcases a free art exhibit titled “Breaking Criminal Traditions” by Charles Gniech, Cheryl Jefferson and Richard Laurent. The exhibit is an exploration of human rights and criminal traditions as seen through the eyes of fine artists. It is available through April 6 in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery at the Fine Arts Center, 171 E. Chicago Ave.

April 2, Author talk: Anderson’s Bookshops and NCC co-present Tim Gunn, popular reality TV host of “Project Runway” and “Under the Gunn,” in an author talk and book signing for his new book “Tim Gunn: The Natty Professor” at 7PM Thurs., April 2, in North Central’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Tickets are required and available with the purchase of the new book at Anderson’s Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave. in downtown Naperville. April 3, College closes at noon: In observance of Good Friday, College offices and the fine arts box office will be closed at noon.

April 6, Visit Day: High school students and their parents or guardians are invited to attend NCC’s Visit Day on Fri., March 6. Registration begins at 9:30AM in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby, 171 E. Chicago Ave., and concludes with lunch at 12:30PM. High-achieving students are invited to an optional session at 9AM. Visitors can take a walking tour and attend informative sessions on financial aid, academic highlights and student life. April 8, Author talk: NCC welcomes author Wallis Wilde-Menozzi, author of the travel book “The Other Side of the Tiber, Reflections on Time in Italy” and a novel “Toscanelli’s Ray” at 7PM Wed., April 8, in the theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. The event is free; copies of both books will be available for sale.

April 9, Lectures: NCC welcomes two alumni who studied the sciences as students to share their current research and discuss careers in science at 7PM Thurs., April 9, in Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Speaking at this free event are Matt McCary ’10, a Ph.D. candidate with the Ecology and Evolution Department of the Biological Sciences program at the University of Illinois-Chicago, and Shelly Feaver ’98 Shaw, an epidemiologist and project manager at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. April 9, Music: The fifth annual Sounds of New Music concert at NCC presents the dynamic ensemble Picosa, a Chicago-based virtuoso chamber ensemble, to perform cutting-edge contemporary classical music. The concert begins at 7:30PM Thurs, April 9, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $15/adults and $5/students and faculty.

April 10, Music: NCC presents “Revenge of the Rhythm Section with Bassist Jim Cox and Drummer Jack Mouse.” The concert begins at 8PM Fri., April 10, in the College’s Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $20/adults and $15/students and seniors.

April 11, Music: NCC’s student organization College Union Activities Board presents Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter, musician and producer Rudy Currence for a musical performance at 8PM Sat., April 11, in Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $5 general admission.

April 11, Musical theatre: NCC presents “The Pirates of Penzance” by the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players. The show begins at 8PM Sat., April 11, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Tickets are $40, $30 and $25.

April 12, Music: NCC presents T. Oliver Reid in a concert titled “Drop Me Off in Harlem” at 6PM Sun., April 12. Reid was winner of the Metropolitan Room’s “2010 Metrostar Challenge” and was also featured artist in the 21st New York Cabaret Convention. The concert will be held in the College’s Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $35 and $30.

April 12, Athletics: NCC welcomes Western DuPage Special Recreation Association for its Special Olympics Far West Suburban/Area 2 Track Meet starting at 7AM on Sun., April 12, at Benedetti-Wehrli Stadium, 455 S. Brainard St. For more info, call (630) 681-0962 or visit wdsra.com.

April 13-June 14, Art exhibit: NCC showcases a free art exhibit titled “Turbine Paintings” by Brian Ritchard, a Chicago-based artist who created a series of paintings depicting American wind farms. The exhibit is available April 13-June 14 in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery, 171 E. Chicago Ave.

April 16-18, Theatre: NCC presents “Miranda Writes,” a play written and directed by North Central student Rae Lindenberg. The play begins at 7:30PM April 16-18 in the College’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Tickets are $5/adults and $3/students and seniors.

April 17, Music: NCC presents world-class entertainer Deana Martin, daughter of Dean Martin, in “Live in Concert” at 8PM Fri., April 17, in Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Tickets are $35, $25 and $20.

April 18, Transfer Visit Day: NCC will host a Visit Day on Saturday, April 18, for transfer students. Visitors can learn about academic choices, transfer admission process, transfer scholarships and financial aid, and tour the campus. Registration begins at 9AM in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby, 171 E. April 18, Comedian: NCC’s student organization College Union Activities Board presents comedian Darren Rose who will perform his original stand-up show at 8PM Sat., April 18, in Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $5 general admission.

April 24, Music: NCC presents Patti LuPone in a concert titled “Far Away Places.” The concert begins at 8PM Fri., April 24, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Tickets are $70, $60 and $50.

April 24, Music: The Naperville Chorus will present its spring concert “The World Beloved: A Bluegrass Mass by Carol Barnett” with special guest musicians at 8PM Fri., April 24, in NCC’s Wentz Concert Hall at, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $20/adults and $15/students and seniors.

April 25, Theatre: Theatreworks USA presents “Paper Bag Princess and Other Stories” at 10AM and 1PM Sat., April 25. The show is held in NCC’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Tickets are $12/adults and $6/children under 12.

April 29, Music: NCC presents the Concert Winds Return from Tour Concert at 8PM Wed., April 29, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $5/adults and $3/students and seniors.

April 30, Music: NCC presents a year-end retrospective of the season titled “Metamorphosis” featuring the Chamber Singers. The concert begins at 7:30PM Thur., April 30, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $5/adults and $3/students and seniors.
