Naper Settlement, an outdoor history museum in Naperville, announced that Dawn Hartman has been appointed as the new director of marketing. With more than 14 years of experience in marketing and graphic design, Hartman most recently served as superintendent of marketing & communications for the Fox Valley Park District, headquartered in Aurora.
As a key member of Naper Settlement’s management team, Hartman will be responsible for developing and implementing a marketing and communications strategy. She will help build, manage and integrate the organization’s brand and all aspects of marketing communications and social media in order to raise awareness of the organization. In addition, she will be responsible for securing financial resources through sponsorship and events, which support the organization’s programs and services.
“Dawn’s skills set spans all aspects of marketing, communications, graphic design, event planning and sponsorship, and we feel she will be an asset in driving Naper Settlement’s marketing plan forward,” said Naper Settlement President and CEO Rena Tamayo-Calabrese.

Hartman started her career with the park district in 2007 as a marketing design coordinator, and then took on additional responsibilities as marketing manager, senior marketing and communications manager, and recently was appointed as superintendent of marketing & communications. She and her team won numerous marketing and communications awards including top honors from the National Recreation & Park Association, the Illinois Park & Recreation Association and the Illinois Special Event Network Skyscraper Awards. She was previously the lead graphic designer for Quintessence Publishing Company, Inc. in Hanover Park for six years.
