Through April 2, Art exhibit: NCC presents a touring exhibit by trauma survivor Diana Bilovsky. Titled “PTSD Nation: Art and Poetry From Survivors of War, Gun Violence and Domestic Abuse,” the exhibit uses art to educate the extent that post-traumatic stress disorder affects an individual. This exhibit is free and open to the public through April 2 in the College’s Oesterle Library Gallery, 320 E. School St.
Through April 6, Art exhibit: NCC showcases an exhibit titled “The Art of Influence: Breaking Criminal Traditions” by author Cheryl Jefferson and painters Charles Gniech and Richard Laurent through April 6 in the College’s Schoenherr Gallery, 171 E. Chicago Ave. The free exhibit is an exploration of human rights and criminal traditions as seen through the eyes of fine artists.
March 1, Musical theatre: NCC presents “SHOUT! The Mod Musical” at 2PM Sun., March 1, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. Directed by North Central seniors, “SHOUT!” is a musical time machine that brings audiences to the swinging England of the 1960s. Tickets are $15/adults and $10/students and seniors.
March 1, Music: NCC presents The Hot Sardines, a band with deep jazz roots and strong French influences. The concert begins at 6PM Sun., March 1, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $30 and $25.
March 2, Film: NCC will host the screening of “Schoolidarity,” a locally produced documentary about the 2012 Chicago Teacher’s Union strike. March 3, Lecture: NCC welcomes Douglas Tejeda, a photographer and sourcing coordinator for Novica, as guest lecturer at 7:30PM Tues., March 3, in the College’s Smith Hall at Old Main, 30 N. Brainard St. Novica is an online art marketplace for craftspeople and artists in the developing world. Tejeda will talk about conserving Guatemalan culture in photography and craft arts and the role of fair trade in indigenous cultures. For more info, call (630) 637-5132.
March 3, Faculty panel: NCC faculty will give short presentations on current political issues from 12:10 to 1:15PM Tues., March 3, in the College’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. The four Topics In Politics (TIP) Talks range from the debate about legalization of pot to blasphemy and Charlie Hebdo in an era of globalization and more. March 6, Visit Day: High school students and their parents or guardians are invited to attend NCC’s Visit Day on Fri., March 6. Registration begins at 9:30AM in the Wentz Concert Hall lobby, 171 E. Chicago Ave., and concludes with lunch at 12:30PM. High-achieving students are invited to an optional session at 9AM. Visitors can take a walking tour and attend informative sessions on financial aid, academic highlights and student life. March 7, Music: NCC invites the community to a free concert specially created for children with autism and other special needs titled “Chords for Kids: Concert for Children with Autism.” The concert begins at 7PM Sat., March 7, in the College’s Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. The concert is free, but tickets are required.
March 7, Music: NCC presents Beatles cover band The Fab Four in a concert titled “The Ultimate Tribute” at 8PM Sat., March 7, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. The show offers precise attention to detail and note-for-note renditions of many of The Beatles classics, including “Can’t Buy Me Love” and “Hey Jude.” Tickets are $40, $30 and $25.
March 8, Music: NCC presents Marianne Murphy Orland in concert at 6PM Sun., March 8, as she performs a tribute to legendary Karen Carpenter. The concert is held in the College’s Madden Theatre, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Tickets are $35 and $30.
March 13, Music: NCC features its Concert Choir, Women’s Chorale, Chamber Singers and Cardinal Chorus in a Choral Gala Concert at 7PM Fri., March 13, Chicago’s Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 E. Chestnut St., Chicago. A free will offering will be taken. For more information call (630) 637-5372.

March 25, Kids Matter Job Fair: NCC will host the KidsMatter Student Job Fair for local high school and college students from 5 to 7:30PM Wed., March 25, at the College’s Merner Field House, 450 S. Brainard St. Admission is free. KidsMatter offers students, ages 16 to 23, the chance to speak with business owners and representatives, learn skills like résumé building and apply for positions. March 26-29, Theatre: NCC presents “Picasso at the Lapin Agile” by Steve Martin at 7:30PM March 26-28 and at 2PM March 29 in the College’s theatre at Meiley-Swallow Hall, 31 S. Ellsworth St. Presented by Organic Theater Company, this play is set in 1904 and tells the story of Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso who meet at a Parisian bar called the Lapin Agile. Tickets are $30/adults, $20/students and seniors.
March 27, Culinary show: NCC welcomes Chef Robert Irvine in his new show “Robert Irvine Live” at 8PM Fri., March 27, in the College’s Pfeiffer Hall, 310 E. Benton Ave. The seasoned, celebrated, no-nonsense chef takes his signature culinary sensibilities to a whole new level with numerous opportunities for audience participation as Irvine faces new and unique culinary challenges. Tickets are $50, $40 and $35.
