It’s also Paczki Day!  Find the tasty deep-fried “doughy saucers” filled with sweet filling and dusted with powdered sugar at local bakeries such as DeEtta’s on Fifth Avenue and  Casey’s Foods in Naperville Plaza.

Celebrate safely!

Lent begins Wednesday.

Throughout the city, special fish fries welcome folks every Friday during Lent from the Judd Kendall VFW Post 3873 to local restaurants such as Catch 35 and Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House where fish and seafood top the menu. And remember the fish tacos at Quigley’s Irish Pub.

The Fresh Seafood Department at Casey’s Foods also is well prepared for the next six weeks of Lent. And remember Casey’s special family recipe for curing corned beef on St. Patrick’s Day in March.

Jaycees Mardi Gras is Feb. 27

Still, revelers can get into the New Orleans spirit and help the local community with the Naperville Jaycees Mardi Gras: Bids for Beads fundraiser 7:30PM, Friday, February 27.

Party-goers will enjoy Cajun-inspired appetizers, hurricanes and a live music performance by Empty Pockets as they bid on silent and live auction items.

As in years past, there is an online auction leading up to the event. Select items will only be available online; others will be brought to the live event to continue bidding as the good times roll. For further information visit www.biddingforgood.com/jcmardigras.

Money raised at Mardi Gras, as well as other fundraisers hosted by the Naperville Jaycees such as Last Fling and Bowling For Bucks, will benefit many organizations that the Naperville Jaycees work hard to support in the Naperville area and throughout DuPage County.  During the last decade alone, non-profit organizations in the community and throughout DuPage County received more than two million dollars of the proceeds from Naperville Jaycees fundraisers.

The Jaycees are seeking sponsors and auction items. Sponsorship levels begin at 50 dollars and can include nationwide exposure through the Bidding for Good website. Businesses interested in sponsorship or donating auction items can contact JCMardiGras@gmail.com.

Participants must be 21 or over to attend. Tickets are $45 per person and can be purchased at www.naperjaycees.org.

Naperville Restaurant Week now through March 1

Meanwhile, get a taste of Naperville’s 2015 Restaurant Week, a two-week event at many participating eateries all over the city that runs through March 1.
