Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel received the Citizen of the Year award from the Illinois Crime Prevention Association (ICPA) at its Chief’s Appreciation and Awards Luncheon held last week in Wheaton. During this event, Naperville Crime Stoppers also received the coveted Organization of the Year award from the ICPA. Awards are given to individuals or groups that have proven crime prevention commitment and service to their communities.
Mayor Pradel was nominated by Naperville Police Chief Robert Marshall for the Citizen of the Year award. In Marshall’s nomination, he mentioned Mayor Pradel’s 48 years of service to the community, his history as “Officer Friendly” visiting schools to educate children on safety, his work with Safety Town and his overall support of crime prevention initiatives. These projects and events include the Crime Prevention Calendar, National Night Out, the Public Safety Open House, Crime Prevention month activities, Community Radio Watch and Crime Stoppers.
Mayor Pradel will step down next May after serving as Naperville’s Mayor for 20 years.

Naperville Crime Stoppers, too!
Naperville Crime Stoppers was nominated for Organization of the Year by Naperville Police Commander Tom Kammerer, who noted that the group has “maintained an outstanding working relationship with our department that extends beyond the provision of anonymous tips.” The Crime Stoppers board participates in the Public Safety Open House, National Night Out and more, including assistance for the Crime Prevention Calendar.
Naperville Crime Stoppers is a not-for-profit organization that solicits crime tips to assist in solving crimes within Naperville. Individuals are asked to call the Crime Stoppers hotline at (630) 420-6006 if they have information about criminal activity. All callers may remain anonymous and, if a tip results in an arrest, the individual may receive a cash reward of up to $1,000.
Since its beginning in 1982, Naperville Crime Stoppers has solved hundreds of crimes and recovered more than $9 million worth of cash, drugs and merchandise.
