Naperville Homeowners Meeting – 8AM | Free
Naper Settlement – 523 S. Webster St Naperville, IL 60540
An annual rite of Spring in Naperville is homeowners complaining about real estate tax bills. Accounting for 70% or more of the total, school districts are targets for the lion’s share of this grumbling. While some moans are understandable, decisions that led to the tax bill were made six months prior during Board of Education preparation of annual budgets and tax levy requests. Those Fall discussions culminate in resolutions typically passed with very little interest or input from these same unhappy taxpayers. With this in mind, the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation has invited the superintendents of local school districts 203 and 204 to our November meeting to share where they see their respective budgets heading and what factors drive decisions regarding increasing their levies. While next year’s budgets will still be a work in progress, having the districts’ leaders on hand to provide an understanding of how they approach levy increases will be a really good use of a November Saturday morning. The meeting will be in Naper Settlement’s Tavern at the Pre-Emption House located at the southwest corner of Aurora Avenue and Webster Street in Naperville. This month, coffee and networking is sponsored by the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation. The business meeting begins at 8:30 and will adjourn by 10AM. All Naperville area homeowners and neighborhood association board members are welcome!

Chicago Sinfonietta – 8PM | $10-$58
Wentz Concert Hall – 171 E. Chicago Ave. Naperville, IL 60563
The Chicago Sinfonietta captures the duality of grief and joy intrinsic to the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead in its annual D a de los Muertos concert, where the orchestra is joined by Brazil-born, Chicago area-based guest conductor Lucia Matos, making her Sinfonietta podium debut, and Redmoon theater, bringing the music to life through spectacular visual accompaniments.
