Midnight Showing of The Exorcist Director’s Cut – 11:59PM | $5
Tivoli Theatre – 5021 Highland Avenue Downers Grove, IL 60515
The Tivoli Theatre will present the extended director’s cut of ‘The Exorcist’ at midnight on Halloween, Friday, October 31. Admission to what is widely considered the scariest movie of all time is $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the Tivoli Theatre Box Office, 5021 Highland Avenue, in downtown Downers Grove, or online at www.classiccinemas.com In the extended version of classic horror film, director William Friedkin and producer/screenwriter William Peter Blatty integrated more than 10 minutes of footage deleted before the film’s 1973 release. They include moments which deepen the impact of a first-rate ensemble’s remarkable performances and reinforces the film’s grip on its audience. In the ‘The Exorcist’ (R/133 min), a visiting actress in Washington, D.C., notices dramatic and dangerous changes in the behavior and physical make-up of her 12-year-old daughter. Meanwhile, a young priest at nearby Georgetown University begins to doubt his faith while dealing with his mother’s terminal sickness. And, book-ending the story, a frail, elderly priest recognizes the necessity for a show-down with an old demonic enemy. The movie won Golden Globe awards for best picture, screenplay, director and supporting actress. ‘The Exorcist’ was named the scariest film of all time by Entertainment Weekly and Movies.com and by viewers of AMC in 2006. It also was No. 3 on Bravo’s The 100 Scariest Movie Moments.
