Ghost Stories in the Park . . . In the Dark – 7PM | $7
Riverwalk Grand Pavilion
Join the fun as the Summer Place Theatre presents its annual Ghost Stories in the Park…in the Dark! Enjoy an evening of scary stories that will send shivers up your spine. This is an outdoor event; please dress warmly and bring blankets and cushions. Not recommended for children under 5. Tickets are available online beginning September 8. They also may be purchased at the Park District Administration Building, 320 W. Jackson Ave. Tickets are available at the door on a cash-only, limited seating basis. Sorry, no refunds. Naperville North fans will be cheering extra hard Friday night as the Huskies face elimination from the IHSA playoffs.

Did You Know? Wheaton Warrenville South and Naperville North, which have combined for nine state titles and 14 state title game appearances, haven’t both missed the postseason in the same year since 1985. Tonight’s matchup between Naperville North and Wheaton Warrenville South kicks off at 7:30PM at Naperville North.

Greater Chicago Soap Box Derby – All Day
Naperville, IL – 1620 Frontenac Rd Naperville, IL 60563
Soap Box Derby race, boys and girls from the Chicagoland area ages 7 – 18 will be competing in gravity built cars. No charge for spectators, concession stand available, bring your lawn chairs. Location will be in Naperville at the corner of Diehl and Frontenac road. Several club cars are available on a first come first served basis to anyone interested in racing. Call 630-841-8832 for more info and to reserve your car. Registration is at 7AM on the day of the race and racing is from 9AM – 3PM. Boys and girls who are accompanied by a guardian can stop by for a free test run.

Fall Scramble Golf Tournament – 8AM | $65

Thisis one of the last opportunities to enjoy tournament play for the season, so besure to join in the Fall Scramble. Any amateur golfer 18 years of age or older with an official USGA handicap is eligible. Entry fee includes greens fee,range balls, prizes and lunch. Approximately 30 percent of the field winners will receive Golf Shop merchandise credit. Trophies also will be awarded to the winners. The DuPage Symphony Orchestra Presents The Cradle of Civilization Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 8 PM at Wentz Concert Hall The DuPage Symphony Orchestra opens its 2014-2015 Concert Season with ‘The Cradle of Civilization’, the first in a series featuring the theme ‘Music, the Global Language’. Music Director Barbara Schubert conducts the DuPage Symphony Orchestra, honored by the Illinois Council of Orchestras as the 2013 Community Orchestra of the Year, in a performance at Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Avenue in Naperville, on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 8 PM. Berlioz’s flamboyant Overture to kicks off the evening with energy and lan. Following the Overture, Concert Artists Guild International Competition Winner Ko-Eun Yi, whose pianistic skills have been described as ‘flawless and dazzling’ by The Cincinnati Inquirer, performs Saint-Sa ns’ captivating Piano Concerto No. 5, Egyptian. Presented in conjunction with the North Central College Office of International Programs and Cultural Events Committee, this colorful program continues spotlighting The Cradle of Civilization with Mussorgsky’s Persian Dances from the opera Khovantchina, Saint-Sa ns’ Bacchanale from Samson et Dalila, and Behzad Ranjbaran’s Seven Passages from his Persian Trilogy. Tickets for the October 11th performance by the DSO are $35 balcony/$30 main floor for adults, $31 balcony/$26 main floor for seniors (65+), and $17 balcony/$12 main floor for students. Sheep Sunday – 1PM | $12

Don’t be sheepish, ewe will enjoy a flock of wild and wooly activities during Naper Settlement’s Sheep Sunday from 1 to 4PM Sunday, Oct. 12 at the museum, 523 S. Webster St., Naperville. Admission is $12 adults, $10 seniors and $8 for youth ages 4-12. Admission is free for members, Naperville residents and children ages 3 and under. Visit www.napersettlement.org or call (630) 420-6010. A sheep herding demonstration will take place at 1:45PM and 2:45PM with the Rev. John and Connie Seraphine of Heatherhope Farm in Sycamore, who will bring their Border Collies and a flock of sheep for the dogs to herd. The dogs are Abbie, Nell, Cap and Betty and the five sheep are a breed known as North Country Cheviot.

The 20th Annual ‘Light of My Life’ Luminary Mass will be held on Sunday, October 12 at 6:15 pm at the grotto in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, corner of North Avenue and Columbia. The intention of this evening is to dedicate a luminary as a silent tribute to any person(s) who may have touched your life in a special way, deceased or living, past or present. Bring your own chair or blanket to sit on. You may purchase the luminaires that evening from 4:30-6PM at the cemetery or visit: sspeterandpaul.net to download the order form.
