Circling Back – Where is Jennifer now?

-

The impact of Counseling at 360 Youth Services is felt for many years. For Jennifer, it’s been more than 10 years since she received counseling at the agency. So transforming was her experience, that she gladly shares it in hopes of helping others.

Jennifer grew up in a difficult environment surrounded by gangs, violence, and family who used drugs. As her mother made poor choices regarding relationships, Jennifer found herself moving further and further into despair. When she attempted to live on her own at 18 to escape the tumultuous living conditions, her younger brother wanted to join her; then her Mother did too, bringing the problems back again.

It was way too much for an 18 year-old, so Jennifer decided she simply couldn’t cope any longer. She intentionally ingested a large number of pills that nearly proved to be fatal. After several days in the hospital, she came to the agency for six months of counseling. It would prove to be life-changing.

The Counselor at 360 helped her weave through her emotions, add coping skills, and see “that I just lost sight of who I was.” Now she is in a happy relationship, is the mother of two thriving little girls, completed her Master’s Degree, teaches at the college level, and started her own children’s clothing line, Bella+Sophia Clothing. She is also “paying it forward” by volunteering at 360. It’s been more than a decade since she sought help from 360, but the healthy perspective she regained lives on. And so does the inspiration she exudes.
