We’ve had lots of exciting developments recently at Dog Patch!
For several years we’ve been looking for an Illinois component to our rescue and I’m happy to say that we have found it. We are pleased to announce that we now are working with Chester Illinois Animal Control and taking in as many as 40 dogs a month. Chester is about 45 minutes south of St Louis. We are so happy to be getting such great animals up here to place into good homes.
Many thanks to Naperville Animal Hospital for doing all of the vet work on these deserving animals. We already have found many of our Illinois dogs great homes. Check out our Facebook page and website to keep track of all the comings and goings.
Further, on August 22, my wife and I were able to accomplish something we thought might never be possible. You may recall when we purchased the business nearly four years ago from the wife of my friend and previous Dog Patch owner, Craig Allen. She remained our landlord. Thanks to her kindness, some dumb luck, decent books and the help of an excellent banker and the SBA, we were able to obtain a loan and purchase the property at 1108 East Ogden Avenue, also known as Dog Patch Pet and Feed!
This accomplishment is huge for us and our rescue program. It will make us more stable, control our costs and give us a future. We could not be happier. The SBA is an amazing operation.
You won’t see much different right away— except that you might see me breathe a little easier. As time goes by, you will see our stamp on things.
We love our community— by going nowhere, we’ll be going somewhere that welcomes you to Dog Patch every day. Stop in and say “hi.”
