Learn about old Naperville, and see the new Naperville! This one-hour Historic Tour of Naperville blends the past with the present, highlights Naperville’s growth, and includes some fun stories! Tours run every Friday during June, July and August at 11AM. Please arrive at 10:50AM. No strollers. $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-17. Beginning the first Saturday in June through the last Saturday in October, the Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday from 7AM to noon at the Fifth Avenue Station parking lot.

School of Rock Summer Music Festival Community Concert Center 104 E Benton Ave Naperville, IL Noon-10pm School of Rock DuPage County with locations in Naperville, Hinsdale and Elmhurst, will be hosting the second annual School of Rock Summer Music Festival at the Naperville Community Concert Center, located in Central Park in Downtown Naperville. Music is from noon-10pm Featuring 12 separate performances paying tribute to the world’s most iconic music festivals by talented students from Elmhurst, Hinsdale and Naperville. Admission is free (donations are requested to be put towards a music scholarship program) and the event is all ages and family friendly.

Sunday, Aug. 17

Cavalcade of Homes – 10AM to 9PM | $10 -12
Ashwood Park Subdivision in Naperville (248 Ave. and 111 St.)
Runs daily July 26 through Aug. 17. Some of the best and most innovative new home designs will be on exhibit during the 2014 Cavalcade of Homes event. The 3-week long show is the largest in Illinois and will feature six brand new, beautifully crafted homes in the highly acclaimed community of Ashwood Park North. Tickets can be purchased for $12 at the gate and $10 online. Double your fun when Naper Settlement and the DuPage Children’s Museum team up to present a day of play from 1 to 4PM Sun., Aug. 17. Enjoy exhibits and hands-on activities while discovering the wonder of play and innovation in a historical setting. Admission is $12 adults, $10 seniors, $8 youth 4-12; Naperville residents, children under 4 and members are free. Century Walk “Best Friends” Dedication– 1PM | Public Welcome
Naperville Park District Administration Building — 320 W. Jackson Ave.
Century Walk will unveil its latest sculpture, “Best Friends,” created by Dale Rogers. The sculpture recognizes of the first 35 years of the Naperville Area Humane Society, founded by Ardis McCallion and friends in 1979.  See how the “bone” foundation assembled during recent dogs days has become the cat’s meow near the Park District Administration Offices near the Riverwalk.

Naperville is blessed with many outdoor spaces to celebrate traditions and the city’s rich history from North Central College to Burlington Square Park to Centennial Beach to Naper Settlement to the Riverwalk to Century Walk, just for starters.  Celebrate safely.
