Naperville Police investigate fatal accident at Ogden Ave. and Columbia St.

The Naperville Police Department responded to the intersection of Ogden Ave. and Columbia St. arriving on the scene of a single vehicle accident on the southeast corner of the intersection. Responding units located a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle, involved in the crash and its driver. The Naperville Fire Department responded to the scene to attend to the serious injuries of the motorcyclist, Erik P. Lat, 28 years of age, of Lisle, Illinois. Mr. Lat was transported to Edward Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Lat was travelling east on Ogden Ave when he lost control of his motorcycle and left the roadway on the southeast corner of Columbia St. and crashed, causing his fatal injuries.

Due to the nature of the crash, members of the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit trained in crash reconstruction responded to the scene to investigate the crash which remains under investigation at this time.
