Naperville Little League Baseball is revamping its highest competitive league, the 50/70 League. It is expanding the number of teams and bringing it in-house, meaning that it will be a highly competitive team without the wide travel and large cost.

“We’re a highly competitive League,” said Dylan Morgan, Board member of Naperville Little League Baseball League. “We’re appealing to those players who want a high level of competition but don’t want all the travel,” he said.

This change will allow players to stay local and play on the best fields in the area, he said. “It is a reflection that we are evolving to meet the needs of players and families,” he said.

Try out for Naperville Little League Baseball’s 50/70 division for the 2015 season.

The term 50/70 refers to the 50-foot pitching distance and 70-foot base paths, larger than traditional Little League fields, but shorter than the full size conventional 60/90 feet. Players are allowed to lead off and use big barrel bats.

All games will be held at Naperville Park District’s premier baseball fields with scoreboards, announcers and lights: Nike Sports Complex, Knoch Park, DuPage River Park.

The 50/70 division will be open to all players 11-13 years old as of 4/30/2015. This means Naperville Little League is expanding to 13-year-olds; current 12-year-olds can come back and play another great season with Naperville Little League.

Tryouts will be held on Saturday, July 26 at Nike Sports Complex. Alternate tryouts will be held Sunday August 3. See below for specific check-in times. Teams will be drafted and players who are selected will be notified byAugust 10.

There is no cost to tryout but please sign up ahead of time at http://eepurl.com/YOcbH

The cost of the program is $325, which includes premium uniforms. Practices will be held throughout the winter (at additional cost) with 2-3 weekly games beginning in spring 2015.

In addition to in-house teams, each of the four leagues within Naperville Little League will be forming one additional Elite team. Players trying out are eligible to be chosen for this Elite team, and will play other select teams from Little Leagues throughout the region. The Elite team will play an additional 10 game schedule and will receive separate uniforms. The cost for this part time travel program will be an additional $150.
