24hr Spin a Thon held by ‘Bike Bald’ to support ‘Children with Cancer.’. ‘This is not a race, you just have to keep the pedals turning.’. Join city officials, business owners, support from other non-profit organizations… Naper Bridge will be the DJ’s for the event. The Childrens Tumor Foundation will help kick off the event. 7th Annual Spring for a Cure benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Enjoy an evening of live music, art and live auction, steak and lobster dinner, along with a premium open bar. Red is the heart-warming color of the evening! Prizes awarded for the most creative ‘Red Tie.’ Great time for best friends to get together to celebrate the cure. The Tragedy at the Loomis Street Crossing – 7PM | Free
Nichols Library – 200 W. Jefferson Ave. Naperville, IL 60563
Chuck Spinner returns to Naperville for a weekend of commemorating a tragic train wreck at the Loomis Street crossing on April 25, 1946. According to Spinner, the weekend starts off Friday evening with a presentation and book signing at the Nichols Library at 7PM, located at 200 W. Jefferson Ave in downtown Naperville.

Related Post! At 10AM Sat., April 26, Spinner will give a power point presentation of the incident at Ss. Peter and Paul Parish Hall, located at 36 N. Ellsworth St. The public is welcome. A number of friends and family of individuals affected by the wreck will be present, marking the very first time that these people whose families similarly were impacted by the train wreck will be gathered together. Autographed copies of The Tragedy at the Loomis Street Crossing again will be available.

Also Note! At 1PM Sat., April 26, a memorial dedication of the Century Walk sculpture by Naperville artist Paul Kuhn will take place at the Naperville train station, just three blocks north of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish Hall.

The Interact Community Service Club of Neuqua Valley High School and the Rotary Club of Naperville South will be hosting its Annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 26th at Neuqua Valley High School, 2360 95th Street, Naperville. Event will run from 8AM until 11AM. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit Loaves and Fishes and Shelter Box as well as other local and international causes. District 204 Music Department students will provide entertainment. Other activities and entertainment for children will also be provided. Cost is $5 for an individual meal and the entire family can eat for only $15.

Community Volunteer Workday – 8AM

Make a difference on Earth Day weekend by joining the Forest Preserve District of Will County and local businesses as they participate in the District’s ‘Community Volunteer Workday.’ The volunteer event will be from 8AMto noon on Saturday, April 26, at the Forest Preserve District’s Whalon Lake, which is located along Royce Road, west of Route 53, in Naperville and Bolingbrook. Participants will assist with trail maintenance, brush clearing, rubbish removal, and wood chipping. Pre-registration is recommended, but day-of registration will be available. Georgetown PTA is proud to sponsor our 2nd Annual Fun Fair & Market on Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Georgetown Elementary School 995 Long Grove Drive in Aurora, IL 60504 from 11AM until 3PM. This Fun(raising) event will feature carnival games, cake walk, silly shower, photo both, caricature artist and raffle. Entertainment will be provided by Naperville School of Performing Arts, Eagle Academy of Martial Arts and a magician. Food vendors include TCBY, Firehouse Pizza and more. There is also a ‘Touch-A-Truck’ event from 11:30AM-1:30PM and WBIG ‘BIG Radio Shopping Show will be in there along with over 20 vendors. Don’t miss this event! Naperville CARES 11th Annual Cuisine for a Cause – 6:30PM | $90-$100

Naperville CARES invites the community to a fundraising event featuring samples of signature dishes from over 20 of the best Naperville area restaurants, wine and beer tastings, live entertainment and auctions. The 11th Annual Cuisine for a Cause, a benefit for Naperville CARES, will be held at our new location Navistar Corporate Headquarters (2701 Navistar Dr.) on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 6:30-10:30PM. Event sponsorships range from $300 to $5,000 and include reserved seating. Individual tickets are offered for open seating at $90 per person before March 31 or $100 per person after March 31st. The ticket price includes food, drink and entertainment, and can be purchased online at www.napervillecares.org or by calling the CARES office at (630) 369-0200. The event is made possible by a partnership with My Chef Catering and is presented by Invesco and Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Charitable Foundation.

The International Children’s Day event will be filled with fun, a parade of nations, performances in traditional costumes, exhibits, magician, face painting, festivities, activities, gifts and many more surprises. Admission to the event is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Turkish American Cultural Alliance (TACA) presents 13th International Children’s Day with the attendance of children representing 8 different countries. In Turkey, Children’s Day originated from the first gathering of Grand National Assembly on April 23, 1920. Ataturk, the founder of modern Turkey, gifted April 23 to the children of the country, so that they would cherish their independence. This year marks the 93rd celebration of this day.
