Naperville high school students fight hunger

-

Annual Food Fight Food Packing by high school students fighting world hunger takes place this week

Founded in Naperville in 2009 by Jordon Prosapio and John Masecas, Food Fight is a student founded, student lead, student movement to end world hunger.  Student leadership has been passed on each year, and the events have grown from two high schools participating in 2009 to five high schools participating this year.  The student leaders and volunteers raise funds each year through a series of fundraisers, and t-shirt sales.  Funds raised each year pay for Food Fightpacking events where students at participating schools pack high protein meals to send to areas of the world in dire need where people are starving.  Last year Food Fight packed its 1,000,000th meal.

According to students, Food Fight is dedicated to providing food for countries throughout the world, creating leadership, helping the poor and building an international community.

Naperville high schools hosting Food Fight packing events this week:

  • Neuqua Valley – Wednesday
  • Naperville North – Wednesday
  • Naperville Central – Thursday
  • Waubonsie Valley – Friday

Jared Prosapio, of Naperville Central High School, younger brother of one of the founders,  is running the leadership of Food Fight this year. Prosapio can be contacted at (630) 881-1033.

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
