Naperville Art League announces winners of ‘Grounds for Potential’ competition

Sunday’s mild temperatures brought an enthusiastic audience of artists and art lovers to the Naperville Art League’s Fine Art Center and Gallery for the award reception for their 10th annual art competition entitled “Grounds for Potential.”

Open to the public, interested artists were invited to participate by creating a piece of artwork that was, through their interpretation, representative of the theme. More than 40 pieces were submitted and were considered for one of the 10 prizes offered. A variety of media was represented including oil, acrylic, wood, jewelry and found objects.

Naperville Art League Fine Art Center and Galley is located on the corner of Fifth Avenue at 508 N. Center St.

Cash prizes were awarded to the top honors:

Award of Excellence / Artist: Neil Pradzinski of Naperville / Title of Piece: “Rising on up!” / Media: Pencil Drawing

Honorable Mention / Artist: Cynthia Boudreau of Naperville  / Title of Piece: “Hope” / Media: Fiber

Honorable Mention / Artist: Kay McKinlay Ford of Naperville / Title of Piece: “Kumba” / Media: Pencil

Honorable Mention / Artist: Maureen McKee of Naperville / Title of Piece: “Transmutation” / Media: Mixed

Pam Carron served as judge for the competition.

In addition to competitions and monthly exhibits, the Naperville Art League offers hands-on art classes throughout the year for adults and children. It is a non-profit, volunteer organization sponsored by membership dedicated to promoting and supporting the visual arts and encouraging artists within the community.
