Dryer fire at Merner Fieldhouse

fire-alarmAt 2:37AM today, Naperville’s Public Safety Answering Point received a 911 call from Campus Security at North Central College reporting a fire in the laundry room at 450 S. Brainard, Merner Fieldhouse. A general alarm assignment was dispatched, bringing a total of 2 trucks, 3 engines, a heavy rescue squad and 2 ambulances to the scene along with 2 Command Officers. The first fire unit arrived on the scene at 2:43AM and found smoke inside the building.

Crews began fire suppression efforts and ventilation was completed. The fire was under control within 10 minutes. The fire was contained to a dryer unit in the laundry room, but the smoke extended in the buildings first and second floors. The building will be open for its normal operations. The fire loss is estimated to be approximately $5,000. The cause of the fire is attributed to the dryer.

There were no injuries to either civilians or firefighters.
