ale-fest-webNaperville Woman’s Club Young Adult Artists Competition / 4 – 7PM / Naperville Woman’s Club will host public reception for young artists from 4 to 7PM on Friday, February 21 at the Clubhouse, 14 S. Washington St. Awards will be given out at 6PM.

Live Music at CityGate Grille / 8PM / Jive away select weekend evenings with live music at CityGate Grille. Paul Abella Trio will perform jazz, rock, samba and fusion. Saturday

SECA Public Hearing / 9AM / Special Events and Cultural Amenities (SECA) fund applicants will have an opportunity to speak before the Advisory Cultural Commission regarding their applications during a public hearing taking place on Saturday, February 22 at 9AM in City Council Chambers of the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. Following public testimony, the commission will determine a final unified recommendation for each application. For more information, visit www.naperville.il.us/seca.aspx.

Naperville Winter Ale Fest / noon – 4PM / The Naperville Winter Ale Fest will take place on Saturday, February 22. Situated on the frozen tundra of Naperville’s Frontier Park, 3380 Cedar Glade Rd. – the festival will feature over 120 unique beers from craft breweries around the country. Pull out your long-johns and parkas, it’s time to experience winter’s best craft beers. The festival will also feature food from some of Chicagoland’s favorite food trucks. Tickets are $45 and are available for purchase at www.winteralefest.com.

2013 WSI Parade Queen

Emerald Dinner hosted by West Suburban Irish at White Eagle / 6:30PM / The Emerald Dinner will be held on Sat., Feb. 22 at White Eagle Golf Club. The annual fundraiser presents the 2014 Parade Queen and features Irish dancing, a silent auction with live music and dancing to follow dinner.

News of the 2014 Parade Queen and her court was released on Feb. 13. Nellie Barry will be crowned WSI St. Patrick’s Parade Queen during the Emerald Dinner. Her court will include Claire Costelloe, Allison Clymer, Victoria Krug, Mary Lipa and Shelley McCarthy. Photos of the 2014 Queen and her court will be taken during festivities on Feb. 22.

The WSI St. Patrick’s Parade Queen will be crowned by Mike Reilly, a longtime member of the West Suburban Irish, who also will serve as the Honorary Grand Marshall of the 2014 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will be held this year beginning at 10AM on Sat., March 15, from Naperville North HS. The parade route runs south on Mill Street, east on Jefferson, south on Main and west on Water Street to City Hall.

The 21st annual parade commentary will be provided by Kevin Dolan, the founder of the West Suburban Irish, along with Dolly McCarthy.

Jaycees Mardi Gras ‘Bids for Beads’ at NIU-Naperville Campus / 7PM / Join the Naperville Jaycees at the NIU-Naperville Campus when it’s transformed into Bourbon Street! Tickets are just $45 per person and include New Orleans-style appetizers by Heaven on Seven, live music performed by “Love & Money,” hurricanes, wine, beer and soda all night long.

Enjoy the opportunity to bid on hundreds of silent and live auction items. Be prepared for a few surprises, so come ready to “Let the Good Times Roll!” All proceeds from the event will go to the Naperville Jaycees for funds to give back to nonprofit organizations in the DuPage County area. Century Memorial Chapel Preview / 2PM / Are you considering Century Memorial Chapel for a wedding, vow renewal or other special occasion? Learn more about the historic, nondenominational chapel at 2PM Sunday, Feb. 23 during a 30-minute presentation given by Naper Settlement’s wedding specialists.
