My next dining experience brought me to a summer-time favorite of mine, “Five Guys Burgers and Fries,” located at 22 East Chicago Avenue in downtown Naperville.
Even though I knew it was one of the coldest days, I wanted to remind myself that summer is not that far away and how much I appreciate the Riverwalk and all the fun things downtown Naperville has to offer visiting guests and residents.
Five Guys has a fun atmosphere. You walk in and there are bulk peanuts just for the taking.
Their menu is pretty simple, eight different burgers, four different hot dogs, four different sandwiches including three veggie and two different types of fries.
For any of the sandwiches, you can get any one of 15 toppings on your burger for no extra charge! I chose the Cheese Burger with grilled onions. The burger was cooked just the way I liked it and was really juicy and piping hot. To get to my burger though, I had to tear open my bag of fries that were over flowing. I got the regular flavored, but they also have a Cajun flavor.
They definitely serve a healthy portion of their delicious fresh cut fries. All fries are cooked in peanut oil.
Also some fun facts are there are over 250,000 possible ways to make a Five Guys Burger. They only use fresh ground beef and you will not find any freezers in a Five Guys Restaurant. Five Guys was named the “Best $5.00 burger a man can eat” by GQ Magazine and also The Washington Post stated they are “Willie Wonkas of the Burgercraft.”
If you have not tried a Five Guys, I would highly recommend taking a walk down by the river and popping in River Square to get warm and enjoy a delicious burger …. And tell them Jack the foodie sent ya!
