Diaz made her feature-film debut at age twenty-one in The Mask. Since then she has appeared in small-budget and blockbuster films alike including My Best Friend’s Wedding and There’s Something About Mary. Diaz supports numerous causes that advocate environmental concerns, education, and the empowerment of women and girls. Diaz grew up in Southern California and divides her time between Los Angeles and New York.

About the Book: Throughout her career, Cameron Diaz has been a role model for millions of women. By her own admission, though, this fit, athletic star wasn’t always as health-conscious as she is today. Her consumption of bad foods had an effect on her skin and her body.

“If you are what you eat,” she says, “I was a bean burrito with extra cheese and extra sauce, no onions.”

Learning about the inseparable link between nutrition and health was just one of the life-changing lessons that sparked Diaz’s passion to explore the best ways to care for her body. In The Body Book, she shares the knowledge she’s gained both from personal experience and from consulting with health experts.

Beginning with nutrition, Diaz explains why instead of fearing hunger, women should embrace their body’s instinct for fuel and satisfy it with whole, nutrient-dense foods.

Diaz also explains the essential role of consistent physical activity. Many women think about exercise in terms of pounds lost or muscle tone gained, but don’t realize that working up a sweat is also essential for improving mood, boosting energy levels, and preventing disease. Diaz offers tips for choosing the right exercise program and shares her own workout strategies for looking and feeling your best.

Creating a healthy, beautiful body begins with learning the facts and turning knowledge into action. In The Body Book, women will find the tools they need to build a healthier body now—so they can live joyfully in it for years to come.

Did you know? This upcoming program is part of Anderson’s Bookshops’ calendar of special author events. Anderson’s Bookshops specialize in book sales, author events, book signings, and building a sense of community, learning and fun. The store has been helping Naperville readers for six generations. In 1878, Oswald’s pharmacy began selling books as a service to customers. So successful was that side of the business that it became an independent entity in 1964. Based in downtown Naperville, the store has grown with the community ever since. A second location is also open in downtown Downers Grove, at 5112 Main Street (630)-963-2665. A gift shop, Anderson’s Two-Doors East, at 111 W. Jefferson Ave., in Naperville, opened in the fall of 2009. Key to Anderson’s success has been special author events, like the January 9 program with Cameron Diaz.
