Century Walk’s “Spirit of the YMCA” will welcome everyone to the Mayor’s Community Prayer Breakfast.

The program kicks off with a breakfast buffet at 6:30AM, catered by Belgio’s Catering, and will include musical performances, scripture readings and special guest speaker Jarrett Payton, son of the late NFL Hall of Famer Walter Payton.

Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel will serve as Master of Ceremonies and lead in the reading of the litany at this multi-denominational event.

“This is an event the entire community looks forward to each year. People feel uplifted after listening to the message of the guest speaker and musical numbers performed by local high school soloists,” Mayor Pradel said in the news release.

“I’ve been a YMCA supporter for over 30 years,” said Ray Jones, event sponsor whose family has operated Friedrich-Jones Funeral Homes & Cremation Services since 1977. “Our family business was the first YMCA sponsor, and we’ve continued to be advocates of the YMCA programs ever since. The YMCA is unique in that it spans the generations and caters to all family members. We’re fortunate to have such a diverse organization to provide resources to our community.”

Sponsored by the School of Performing Arts, the event’s musical portion will feature Neuqua Valley High School soloist Katelyn Casey. A senior, Casey is heavily involved in the school’s music department as well as with the Varsity Chamber Singers.

The Fry Family YMCA and City of Naperville also will make a joint special presentation to retiring Illinois Prairie Community School District 204 Superintendent Dr. Kathryn Birkett, honoring her contributions to the community through her career as a teacher and administrator in District 204.
