Columnist’s Note: This month, Sandy Southworth, Community Service Committee member, has written my column. I appreciate everything Sandy does for Exchange Club!
The Exchange Club of Naperville participated in our National Day of Service and all clubs were encouraged to do a volunteer project on the fourth Saturday in October. This is a National Program of Service that fell on October 26 this year.
The Exchange Club of Naperville helped two Ronald McDonald Houses. One of the facilities is located in a special area inside Edward Hospital in Naperville and the other is Ronald McDonald House near Loyola. Both groups received a donation from our club.
The Ronald McDonald House near Loyola will use the donation toward the Angel Fund which helps pay for someone to stay overnight that might be in need of a little financial assistance. The person or family will find a note under their door on the day they are checking out that says an angel has paid for their stay.
At Edward, the gift will be used as needed to help parents and children.
Community Service Committee members delivered homemade cookies, sandwiches, milk and snacks to the Ronald McDonald House near Loyola.
Going forward, the club also is collecting pop can tabs year-round for the Ronald McDonald House. The funds raised from the tabs provide them with unrestricted funds for the house.
If you would like to donate tabs, please drop them at any of the club’s luncheons. Our meetings are held at 11:45AM on the first and third Fridays of each month at Hugo’s Frog Pond. We would love for you to join us for lunch and consider becoming a member.
