Crime Stoppers encourage everyone to run scared October 26

The Naperville Crime Stoppers Second Annual Running Scared 5K Costume Run and Walk will take a bite out of crime at 8AM Saturday, October 26, 2013.

Costumes are encouraged and many Halloween themed activities will complement the costume run and walk. The route is certified and chip-timed, beginning near St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 2220 Lisson Rd. in Naperville. Participants that register early are guaranteed an official race shirt.

McGruff the Crime Dog will be present to cheer on racers with candy and prizes. The 5K is being held in coordination with National Crime Prevention Month and is an entertaining warm-up for the Naperville Marathon which is just two weeks later.

The race is raising awareness for crime prevention, public safety and to inform citizens they can be rewarded for submitting anonymous tips that lead to an arrest or solving a crime. Anyone may submit a tip by calling the Naperville Crime Stoppers hotline at (630) 420-6006, 24/7.

The cost is $35 for adults and $25 for kids 12 and under. Visit www.crimestoppersrunningscared.com to register.

Parking in the lot adjacent to the church and it is suggested that racers arrive 30 minutes prior to the race start with costumes.
