Help set a world record with Captain Underpants author Dav Pilkey

-

Hold on to your underpants!

Come meet popular children’s author Dav Pilkey at Anderson’s Bookshop on Sat., Sept.  8.

Beginning at 2PM, the author will start signing books for fans, including his latest title, Captain Underpants and the Terrific Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers. But let us be brief…there’s much more to this silly afternoon.

Anderson’s Bookshop invites as many as possible to participate in a world record-setting event: The greatest number of people wearing (clean) underpants on their heads!

Grab your favorite underpants, stretch them on top of your head and laugh with us. A photograph will be taken of the assembled underpants-wearing masses at about 1PM. No reservations are required to attend this free program.

About the Book: Pilkey’s Captain Underpants series is a crack-up kids love. New is Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers, the ninth epic novel in the series. Tra-la-laaa! Captain Underpants is in an all-new epic adventure that’s the zaniest, funniest, outrageousest, and time-travelingiest yet!

When we last saw our heroes, George and Harold, they were under arrest and headed for prison. Then Harold foolishly uttered the fateful words “What could be worse than going to jail for the rest of our lives?” and changed the course of human history.

In this edition, Pilkey takes readers back in time to the carefree days of kindergarten, when the worst thing George and Harold had to face was not evil mad scientists or alien cafeteria ladies but a sixth-grade bully named Kipper Krupp, the nephew of their clueless school principal. And because George and Harold don’t actually invent Captain Underpants until fourth grade, the two clever kindergartners are on their own, using their brains to beat the bully.

About the Author: Dav Pilkey was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He currently lives in Eugene, Oregon with his dogs, Little Dog, Leia, and Martha Jane, and his cats, Blueberry and Edward Velvetpaws. Dav (originally Dave) hit upon the current spelling of his name when a label maker used to create name tags refused to print the letter “e.” Though the spelling has changed, the pronunciation is the same.

Did you know? Anderson’s Bookshops specialize in book sales, author events, book signings, and building a sense of community, learning and fun. The store has been helping Naperville readers for six generations. In 1878, Oswald’s pharmacy began selling books as a service to customers. So successful was that side of the business that it became an independent entity in 1964. Based in downtown Naperville at 123 W. Jefferson Ave., the store has grown with the community ever since. A second location is also open in downtown Downers Grove. Anderson’s gift shop, Two Doors East, 111 W. Jefferson Ave., opened in Naperville in 2009.
