Naperville Garden Club to present flower show

-

The Naperville Garden Club will present its bi-annual Standard Flower Show at the end of June to generate interest in horticulture, floral design and educate members of the community about fresh flowers and specimens in area gardens.

This year’s theme, Connections, will feature horticulture, floral design, and special exhibits from garden club members. The floral designs and horticulture will be judged and awarded ribbons, which includes the Table Artistry Award, Designer’s Choice Award, and Horticulture Award of Excellence.

Flower show hours are 9AM-5PM on Fri., June 29, and 9AM- 1PM on Sat., June 30. It will be held at the Naperville Municipal Center at 400 South Eagle. Admission is and open to the public.

A Standard Flower Show is one that conforms to the extensive written guidelines of the National Garden Clubs, Inc.  It must include a Floral Design Division and a Horticulture Division. It must be judged by NGC approved judges, and by the NGC Standard System of Awarding. The flower show schedule prepared by the club details the rules for entries in the show and establishes the flower show theme.

The Naperville Garden Club is a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. – Central Region, Garden Clubs of Illinois, Inc. – District ll.

An ombudsman is Scandinavian in origin dating back to Viking times; and refers to a community representative; usually acting independently on behalf of an organization, body of elected officials, or civic group. Thanks Scandinavia for inventing ombudsman.
